Become a Pilot
Nebraska Flight Center offers flight training programs for the following certificates and ratings:

Private Pilot
Your license to the skies, the private pilot certificate allows one to fly an aircraft by themselves with passengers on board. As long as weather conditions are favorable, you can travel nearly anywhere in the United States.
Requirements
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
- Obtain at least a current third-class medical certificate
- Receive a minimum of 40 hours of flight time including training and solo flight
- Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test

Light Sport Pilot
The light sport pilot license is one of the quickest ways to start flying on your own. Created by the FAA in 2004, this category is one of the fastest growing in the United States. While limited to only light sport aircraft, there is no compromise to fun and adventure it provides.
Requirements
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
- Receive a minimum of 20 hours of flight time including training and solo flight
- Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test

Instrument Rating

An Instrument Rating (IR) is a crucial next step for pilots who want to fly safely in low visibility conditions and controlled airspace. At Nebraska Flight Center, our instrument training program is designed to help you master advanced navigation, communication, and decision-making skills under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).
What You’ll Learn
- Flight solely by reference to instruments
- IFR procedures, charts, and clearances
- Precision and non-precision approaches
- Holding patterns and missed approach procedures
- Advanced cockpit resource management and weather interpretation
Requirements
- Valid Private Pilot Certificate
- FAA Medical Certificate
- Minimum flight time as required by FAR Part 61 (we’ll help you get there)
